Guidelines for Ball apparel

Like I have mentioned a few times, there is no costume theme for this year's OSR English/Scottish Country Dance Ball. Semi-formal to formal wear is acceptable.

Guys: Self explanatory. Not quite a black tie event, but jeans aren't a great choice either. ;)

Girls: Pretty easy to figure out, right? Anything from long sweeping skirts, fancy costumes, or cute party dresses work. You don't HAVE to look like a diva, but why not? :) As long as your outfit fits within these specifications, you are good to go:

+ No dresses above the knee
+ No cleavage
+ Dresses MUST have straps
+ No open backs

Note that if you do not wish to dance, you don't have to! We recommend it, as English/Scottish Country dancing is very "hands off," fun, and family friendly. Don't be shy! HOWEVER, we understand convictions or personal preferences. There are plenty of snacks and games available for nonparticipants.

--there will be a group picture taken prior to the Ball

Show of Talent

Calling all talented peoples! We are seeking willing participants to enthrall the assembled weekend community with various feats of little known and highly sought talent. MC'd by your (much-beloved no doubt ;)) 2013 hostesses Hannah Michelle  & Anna Ferrar, the Show of Talent will be staged from the camp amphitheater on Saturday afternoon. Sing, yodel, dance, fly, act and perform your way to fame and wealth....or at least hearty applause and appreciation. ;)

We need YOUR talents - big, small, serious or zany!

In interest of keeping things fresh and interesting, from now until Aug 5th we will be accepting *first time* acts only. This means, if you have never attended the OSR, or if you have attended but never participated in the talent show, we are lookin' at you!

After Aug 5th, anyone who has previously participated is welcome to sign up for the remaining spots. :)

All set? Here's the doublescoop:

** Send a brief description about what your "talent" will be, with approximate performance time.

** Please keep your performance between 5-10 minutes. If you have an idea that requires more time, let me know and I will do my best to accommodate.

** Space is on a first come, first serve basis. Sign up soon to reserve your spot! (First-timers until Aug 5th, open to everyone after.)

** Microphones, sound system and keyboard will be provided/available.

** Don't be shy! Recruit a friend (or two or four), brush up those skills, raid your closet, pack some props in your suitcases...let's have fun!

Contact me on Facebook (Hannah Michelle L) or email - smile (@) jesusredeemed (dot) us

The show is always a highlight of the weekend - so get those brain wheels turning, we can't wait to hear from you!
