Thank you, and an invite. . .

A big thank you to everyone who made OSR 2012 the best yet! I have many beautiful memories filled with beautiful people. And I've got to admit, the Lord filled me with a special sense of peace this year--I felt organized, put together, and everyone seemed happy. Can't ask for anything more. :)

I'm made many friendships because of the OSR, and am really excited to see how God will use it in it's future. Here's to many more years of playing and praising together, and a big, friendly invite to The Ohio Summer Rendezvous, 2013! Introducing Pleasant Hill Outdoor Center's newest cabin:

Hemlock

Gotta say, I'm just as surprised as you! Visited the camp today to get a better feel of the area hiking trails (very successful, btw. We found the trail head--awesome hike coming up in what, less than five days now?! o.O ) --and discovered Hemlock. I had no idea a new cabin was built over the year.

As you can see, Hemlock is very beautiful, clean, cozy--all the good attributes of Pleasant Hill's cabins.

Ladies, we just got ourselves a new home! B)

The camp has been spruced up quite a bit (not like it needed it, but you know.) Even the amphitheater benches were painted! Snazzy, huh?

View of our beloved Hickory cabin. Love that place. . .feels like a second home. Or a really good friend I see only once a year.

And last but not least, an updated-shot of the Genesis Lodge.

Sooooo. . .what do you think? I'd love to hear your feedback on the OSR's newest addition! Let's give Miss Hemlock a warm welcome.

We have a caller! {2012}

I am very pleased to announce that we have a caller for Ohio Summer Rendezvous, 2012!!! Details to follow SOON--keep watching this spot.

The dance will be Square, something new for the OSR; I'm really excited about it. Square dance callers are readily available in our area and charge fees within my budget; otherwise I would have gone with Scottish or English (Country Dance.) Anywho--this is going to be an interesting and fun change! *note*--as I mentioned yesterday, the dance has no official theme, only because of last minute preparations. I will be posting a formal dress code shortly.

Thursday, August 9, 2012

ATT:

**ATT** As of right now there is no official final deadline, however, it IS time to begin sending in your checks. I at least need to know if you are planning on attending so I can add you to the guest list. (which is growing--good to see quite a few new faces this year!)

Also--

:drumroll:

There is no particular "theme" for the ball. It's been so last minute with all my busyness this summer, so we're going with a formal dance; you may come dressed in any color or type of formal wear. If you have any questions please shoot me an email. I will be posting the dress code ASAP. (note that the type of dancing is not yet determined.)

Still looking for recreation leaders and a brave guy or two to host devotions. We have 1-2 places open.

pnogirl [at] gmail [dot] com

PLEASE read everything posted and carefully take everything into consideration. The team would appreciate as much cooperation as possible. :)

Show of Talent!

Calling all talented peoples! We are seeking willing participants to enthrall the assembled weekend community with various feats of little known and highly sought talent. MC'd by your 2012 hostesses Hannah Michelle L & Anna Ferrar, the Show of Talent (formerly known as the Talent Show...hey I gotta change something) will be staged from the camp amphitheater on Saturday. Sing, yodel, dance, fly, act and perform your way to fame and wealth....or at least hearty applause and appreciation. ;)

If you've attended but never participated, this is your year! We need YOUR talents - big, small, serious or zany!

Ready? Here's the lowdown:

** Send a brief description about what your "talent" will be, with approximate performance time.

** Please keep your performance between 5-10 minutes. If you have an idea that requires more time, let us know!

** Space is limited and on a first come, first serve basis. Sign up soon to reserve your spot!

** Microphones, sound system and keyboard will be provided/available.

** Don't be shy! Recruit a friend (or two or four), brush up those dance moves, pack some props in your suitcases...let's have fun!

Contact me on Facebook or email - smile (@) jesusredeemed (dot) us

Get those thinking caps on - we can't wait to hear from you! The show is always a highlight of the weekend and we expect this year to be NO exception!

ATT: Looking for volunteers {and special announcements}

Registration will be opening within the next week or so. For now, I'd like to officially announce a few things--

the Ball

This year we are most likely hosting Scottish Country Dancing (rather then English or a mixture of the two,) or Square Dancing. What is the overall opinion? Still waiting on getting a caller. Details to come soon.

As of now the theme is still undecided. Keep watching this spot.

>somuchplanningsolittletime<

devotions

Looking for {male} volunteers! I have at least one morning (potential) volunteer--2 more slots are open--1 for devotions and 1 for church on Sunday. Please contact me at pnogirl [at] gmail [dot] com for more details.

This year there will be a set theme for devotions. Contact Michaela at the above email address for details.

sports/recreation leaders

Again, looking for 2 or 3 guys to lead/organize sports and recreational activities. This involves planning, teamwork, leading, etc. Be creative! I'll need you to commit to posting updates on the blog and/or the Facebook group page. <ideas> Ultimate Frisbee, volleyball, hiking, soccer, baseball, fishing, camp games, etc. Time is running out--Please contact me at: pnogirl [at] gmail [dot] com.

talent Show

Co-planner Hannah Michelle will be posting in the next couple of days with openings for the 2012 Ohio Summer Rendezvous Talent Show. It has been a privilege to work with Hannah for the past three years--she knows how to have a good time. Keep watching this spot for details, and put your thinking caps on!

laser tag

Waiting to hear back from Pleasant Hill regarding laser tag--it just may be part of the all-new schedule (and will be an optional activity.) HOWEVER, there will be an extra fee. Interested? Yes? No? Trying to get the feel out.

things to remember

  1. Registration is $80 per person, covering 5 home cooked meals and two nights stay in a beautifully maintained Pleasant Hill cabin. If you are interested in a camp-sponsored sport [laser tag] there will be an extra fee.
  2. Attendee age is 14 and up--you must be homeschooled or a homeschooled graduate. Any attendee under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult who is also staying at the camp.
  3. Bring your parents! They have the option to pay regular registration price and stay at the camp, or there are local hotels in the area. If they would like to eat at the camp (but stay elsewhere,) they can do so for $8 per meal, per person, alla carte. Contact Michaela at: pnogirl [at] gmail [dot] com for more details.
  4. There is free wifi and cell phone service at the park
  5. Check the "tabs" at the top of the blog for last years schedule (including meals,) group pictures, camp address, and frequently asked questions. There are also a list of websites further down.
  6. Suggestions are HELPFUL. If you have ideas and/or comments regarding this event in any way, feel free to shoot me and email.
