ATT: Looking for volunteers {and special announcements}

Registration will be opening within the next week or so. For now, I'd like to officially announce a few things--

the Ball

This year we are most likely hosting Scottish Country Dancing (rather then English or a mixture of the two,) or Square Dancing. What is the overall opinion? Still waiting on getting a caller. Details to come soon.

As of now the theme is still undecided. Keep watching this spot.

>somuchplanningsolittletime<

devotions

Looking for {male} volunteers! I have at least one morning (potential) volunteer--2 more slots are open--1 for devotions and 1 for church on Sunday. Please contact me at pnogirl [at] gmail [dot] com for more details.

This year there will be a set theme for devotions. Contact Michaela at the above email address for details.

sports/recreation leaders

Again, looking for 2 or 3 guys to lead/organize sports and recreational activities. This involves planning, teamwork, leading, etc. Be creative! I'll need you to commit to posting updates on the blog and/or the Facebook group page. <ideas> Ultimate Frisbee, volleyball, hiking, soccer, baseball, fishing, camp games, etc. Time is running out--Please contact me at: pnogirl [at] gmail [dot] com.

talent Show

Co-planner Hannah Michelle will be posting in the next couple of days with openings for the 2012 Ohio Summer Rendezvous Talent Show. It has been a privilege to work with Hannah for the past three years--she knows how to have a good time. Keep watching this spot for details, and put your thinking caps on!

laser tag

Waiting to hear back from Pleasant Hill regarding laser tag--it just may be part of the all-new schedule (and will be an optional activity.) HOWEVER, there will be an extra fee. Interested? Yes? No? Trying to get the feel out.

things to remember

  1. Registration is $80 per person, covering 5 home cooked meals and two nights stay in a beautifully maintained Pleasant Hill cabin. If you are interested in a camp-sponsored sport [laser tag] there will be an extra fee.
  2. Attendee age is 14 and up--you must be homeschooled or a homeschooled graduate. Any attendee under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult who is also staying at the camp.
  3. Bring your parents! They have the option to pay regular registration price and stay at the camp, or there are local hotels in the area. If they would like to eat at the camp (but stay elsewhere,) they can do so for $8 per meal, per person, alla carte. Contact Michaela at: pnogirl [at] gmail [dot] com for more details.
  4. There is free wifi and cell phone service at the park
  5. Check the "tabs" at the top of the blog for last years schedule (including meals,) group pictures, camp address, and frequently asked questions. There are also a list of websites further down.
  6. Suggestions are HELPFUL. If you have ideas and/or comments regarding this event in any way, feel free to shoot me and email.

Its here!

Ladies and gentlemen! (and guys - please don't get scared off by the title...) Announcing the "NEW" theme for the 3rd annual Rendezvous English Country Dance Ball: 'Once Upon a Dream'Skip the masks...instead, think whimsy, fantasy, mystery and excitement. You can be anything and anyone in the wildest scope of you imagination - providing that it is a character from a movie, book, or play...wigs and whatnot. period dramas. lacy cravats. broadswords. glamour and glitz.

YOU are the cast - the dance floor our stage, the story waiting to be written. Don't forget! This is also a very formal Ball, so the fancier, flouncier, more sophisticated and elegant the better.

* Gentlemen. This does not exclude you. Lets see dashing heroes, pirate kings, wealthy mill-owners.

* Ladies. Swishing hoop-skirts, courtly maidens, puffs, swirls, glitter...English Royalty, Southern Belles.

NOTE: please keep your costumes and formal wear within the modesty guidelines mentioned previously. Yes, formal wear is acceptable if you'd rather not wear a costume.

If you have any questions, please email Michaela: pnogirl@gmail.com

Looking for a life guard, and more suggestions/opinions!

Alright everyone - I've been working a bit on more of the details for the Rendezvous, and need some input! :)
- I know its a little time away before the event, but I'm already getting really excited!

1) would there happen to be a certified life guard amongst anyone officially attending or seriously thinking of attending? According to the park rules, the only way we can swim is if we provide our own life guard.
- if anyone could help out in that area, it would be much appreciated! :)

2) There are 13 miles worth of hiking trails in the park as well as overlooks, waterfalls, etc, etc. How many people would like to hike for part of one day?

3) The camp itself, Pleasant Hill Outdoor Center offers several extra activities for $4 extra per person. Mountain biking and canoeing are a couple options, and I'm looking into prices for rappelling. Suggestions?

4) There is a small amphitheater on property that I thought might be fun to put to use. A talent show maybe? Any other ideas? Yes, no?

Looking forward to hearing your suggestions!

Scavenger Hunt

So as I was trying to think up some fun things to do at the Rendezvous, I thought, "Hey, why not a scavenger hunt?" But who wants to look for acorns and leaves? Then I remembered the National Reunion one. For those of you who have been to the HSA National Reunion, or know anything about it, you'll know that there's something super fun that goes on there: The Scavenger Hunt. The only one in the world that I know where you look for people instead of objects.

So I thought...why not do one for OSR?

Now, here's where I need help. I made a list of possible subjectsm with the help of my co-planners. I'll post them here. I need you all to tell me if they are good, or give me ideas of what do add. I don't think we should go over thirty, just in case we don't have that many people. Let me know what your thoughts and ideas are!!!!

1. Someone who flew on an airplane to get here:
2. Someone who was at the Ohio Winter Rendezvous:
3. Someone who can play 5 or more instruments:
4. Someone who hates Pride & Prejudice:
5. Someone who can beat you in thumb wrestling:
6. Someone can sing at least 3 of the Math-U-See skit counting songs:
7. Someone who has made more than 1000 legitimate posts on HSA:
8. Someone who has more than 150 friends on HSA:
9. Someone who has been to at least 1 National Reunion:
10. Someone who can recite a line (a full sentence at least ten words) from P&P:
11. Someone who has never played Ultimate Frisbee:
12. Someone who has been to another country (not including Canada):
13. Someone who has memorized a whole book of the Bible:
14. Someone who knows the pillow rule:
15. Someone who signed your autograph book within the last year:
16. Someone you just met at this get together:
17. Someone you knew before this get together:
18. Someone who has never been to an HSA get together:
19. Someone wearing Orange:
20. Someone who eats kiwi:
21. Someone who can wiggle their ears:
22. Someone who can draw a frog:
23. Someone who has green eyes:
24. Someone who likes peppermint ice cream:

Western theme night...

One of the best parts of the Ohio Winter Rendezvous was our theme night - 1920's-40's, right? Well! I'm super excited to announce that the theme for the Ohio Summer Rendezvous is...Western! B-)

So get your thinking caps on (er...cowboy hats? :P ) - and start planning your outfit. It can be anything from just a hat or a pair of boots, to chaps, bandannas, spurs...

Anyone getting excited yet??
- things are coming along, slowly but surely, thanks to a bit of brain storming this past weekend with my co-planners. B-)

Extra Activities?

There are several extra activities that Pleasant Hill offers at a cheap cost, such as canoeing, zip line, climbing tower, etc, besides caving in Mohican State park. What are your thoughts? Would anyone be willing to spend a little extra money, or should we stick to making out own fun? - I would appreciate suggestions!
